The Laver Cup will be Roger Federer's last tournament before retiring.

Swiss stalwart Roger Federer announced retirement from pro-tennis which sent tremors through the sporting world. But Federer will be seen in action one last time at the Laver Cup which will be played at the O2 stadium in London, England. In the build-up to this tournament, Federer received a fitting gift.

Just before starting an interview with Eurosport, the presenter of the segment gifted Federer with a goat soft toy, referencing the GOAT or Greatest Of All Time nickname he is given by fans. In the video posted by the broadcaster, Federer enjoyed the gift and thanked the interviewer. 

He said, “Oh! Look at that! Thank you, thank you! Too sweet. Too kind. Thank you.” The interviewer further asked him if he would keep the gift or pass it on. To which,  the Swiss legend replied that he may have to pass it on when the time comes. “Maybe, down the road, I’ll have to (pass it on),” he replied. 

In a packed press conference at the O2, Federer also explained his thought process before he made the announcement of his retirement. He addressed how the decision took a lot of time as it was a very emotional one. 

He said, "It was about time that I retired. I think a moment like this doesn't come overnight. It was a process, an emotional one, which at the end I thought we managed well, with the family, the team, my closest friends. It all worked out and here we are now at the Laver Cup. But it was definitely more a highly unusual last few weeks for me."
