The Strong museum’s National Toy Hall of Fame has narrowed down its class of 2022 to just 12 finalists, with only three able to be inducted into the hall this year, allowing members of the public to cast their votes to decide which will be admitted.
The Strong, located in Rochester, New York, said it plans to announce the results on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m., with a selection this year which ranges from board and card games to figurines and actions figures.
Voting opened on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and is currently open through Wednesday, Sept. 21, you can vote online in that window by clicking here.
The full list of finalists includes Bingo, Breyer Horses models, Catan, Lite-Brite, Masters of the Universe action figures, Nerf toys, the piñata, the Phase 10 card game, Pound Puppies stuffed animals, the Rack-O card game, the Spirograph, and the simple spinning top.
The Strong is one of the largest history museums in the United States, it said on its website, housing “the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of historical materials related to play.”
The three toys which end up getting the most public votes will count toward a single “Player’s Choice” ballot, according to the Associated Press, which said that this ballot will be counted alongside ballots turned in a through a national selection committee made up of industry experts, academics, and others.
The AP added that 77 toys have been inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame since it opened in 1998, including the paper airplane, bubbles and the most recent additions from last year which included American Girl Dolls, Risk and sand.
