SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake is asking fans that plan on attending the upcoming home game against Minnesota on Wednesday, August 31, to bring teddy bears to the game.

Following the first Real Salt Lake goal, the club is encouraging fans to throw teddy bears onto the pitch. All teddy bears thrown onto the pitch will be donated to the Best Seats in the House, Nixon Strong, Hayes Tough, Mascot Miracles, and Seaonna Norton, all local charities fighting to end childhood cancer. The teddy bears will be distributed across all charities and will be gifted to children in Utah fighting cancer.

If Real Salt Lake does not score a goal inside the opening 45 minutes, fans will be encouraged to throw the teddy bears onto the pitch at the halftime whistle.

Furthermore, the club will also be selling “Kick Childhood Cancer” scarves and kits at the team shop, located in the northeast corner of Rio Tinto Stadium, for every scarf and kit sold, the club will donate $20 to 5 For The Fight.

If RSL is fined by Major League Soccer for the teddy bear stunt, the ownership group has vowed to match that dollar amount with a donation to 5 For The Fight as well.

It is the first time in the club’s history that teddy bears will be thrown onto the hallowed Rio Tinto Stadium pitch.
