For the Ghostbusters fan (or cat) that has everything comes this adorable cat condo, made to replicate Kenner’s fan favorite 1980s play set, The Real Ghostbusters Firehouse!

The build comes from Instagram user Shawn Waite, who has been chronicling the construction of this upscaled recreation over the past several weeks that, at first, could be mistaken for the real thing!

Of course, in making a cat condo instead of a play set, not everything is the same, with measurements of the original toy being upscaled by 75% to accommodate its feline inhabitant.

The construction of the Firehouse is primarily MDF, with wood used for finer details. Other changes include the structural pole being swapped out with a scratching post and the toyetic blue and red pole replaced with a similarly colored hanging ball. There’s also a cat bed found on top, loaded with some menacing (and super soft) Mini-Pufts!

The project was a group effort between Shawn and his family, working on it during the weekends and some weeknights for an entire month, estimating that the build likely took about 75 hours.

When it comes to the inspiration, Shawn wrote that it all started with a new kitten named Stria, and a joke to his wife, writing:

“We got a new kitten (her name is Stria) a couple of months prior, and we were adding some cat furniture to our home for her. We thought that she may enjoy having something in our home office, which is where I have my vintage toy collection, so I joked that we should build a cat condo that looks like the Ghostbusters Firehouse play set so that it would fit with the theme of the office. My wife loved the idea, and our twin daughters (age 9) were excited for Stria to have a condo.”

Shawn also mentioned that it was his daughters’ idea to include a ghost dog logo in place of the traditional no ghost, which, we have to say, was a rather fun twist!
