From clothing to pet food, these locations and charities are currently accepting donations

Looking for practical ways to help as the humanitarian crisis unfolds in Ukraine? From donating clothing to volunteering in person, you can help families and children caught in the conflict by donating items to keep them safe, warm and fed.

Take a look below at the various places you can donate around the country. Many smaller local shops and supermarkets may also accept donations, so do enquire in your local area if you can't find the right one in the list below.

NOTE: Many of the donation points have been busy this week and some have stopped accepting new drop-offs while they process existing items. Please check with the organisers before taking your donations.

1. Dyce, Aberdeen Over in Aberdeen, Paula Śledzińska has set up a collection point for Ukraine. They are in need of items including flasks, hot water bottles, protein bars, bandages, dry food (rice and pasta), sleeping bags, wet baby wipes, sanitary pads/tampon, first aid kits, and pet food. For more information, head over to their Facebook page or call Kacha on 07578272767. Please note that the collection has paused due to a lack of space, so do contact before dropping any items off.

2. Ukrainian Crisis Pet Appeal, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire This newly-launched crisis appeal needs urgent help with volunteers and drop-off points around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information about where you can donate. They have also recently set up a JustGiving page, hoping to raise £6,000 for the pet crisis appeal.

The organisers explain: "We are looking for locations that are drop off points all over the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire for the pet donations to be taken to. If you have adequate garage storage space or have a business that has the room to take in the donations until van pick can be arranged to bring to our storage area in Aberdeen please message."

3. Inverurie, Aberdeenshire West Church Hall in Aberdeenshire is no longer collecting donations due to reaching capacity, however volunteers are desperately needed to help sort donations at Craigievar House, Howe Moss Avenue, Dyce AB21 0GP. Head over to their Facebook page for more information.

4. Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire Please donate items to the Storage building at 31b High Street, Inverallochy, Monday to Thursday from 12pm to 1pm and 6pm to 7pm. See this Facebook post for more information about what you can do to help.

5. Banff, Aberdeenshire The Co-op on Bridge Road has also had to pause accepting donations, to an overwhelming number of items. Their post says: "Due to the tremendous support from the kind people of Banff we have had to put a stop on further donations until we can manage to have the ones we already have collected. If anyone is able to help with this please feel free to message me."

6. Ellon, Aberdeenshire Maryana Eddie, owner of Prestige Town in Aberdeenshire, is organising collections to help Ukraine. Some of the items they urgently need include torches, powerpacks, binoculars, large suitcases and storage bags. See here for more information.

7. Red Cross fundraiser, Shetland You can donate to the Shetland Stands with Ukraine fundraiser here. This is an easy way to help people in need get enough water, food and clothing supplies.

8. Oban, Argyll and Bute If you live in Oban, follow the Oban Helps Ukraine Facebook page for updates on where you can donate. They also desperately need packing boxes to transport goods to Ukraine. Some of the collection points so far include:

Clothes, blankets, duvets, sleeping bags, toys, nappies and canned food are being accepted by Mossgiel Organic Farm in Scotland. For more information, head over to their Twitter page.

10. Vilnius Polish Centre, Bury, Manchester Over in Manchester, the Vilnius Polish Centre has set up donation points to support refugees fleeing Ukraine. The centre is appealing for new clothing and shoes, toiletries, blankets, sleeping bags, bandages, nappies and baby wipes, sanitary products, crayons and colouring books, as well as volunteers who can package items.

11. Malvern Bakehouse, Malvern The Malvern Bakehouse is no longer collecting donations, after an influx of drop-offs. At present, they are raising money for Chleb Życia – a Polish charity which helps Ukrainian refuge families. For more information about how you can donate, see here.

12. Smethwick, West Midlands The Bearded Broz, developed with the intention to help others in need, are urging people to donate clothing for those crossing the border into Poland. For more information on how to donate, contact 07767164246.

13. Westbury, Wiltshire For those living in Wiltshire, a new donation point in the town of Westbury has been set up. They are looking for clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, children's toys, pet food, and long-lasting cupboard supplies, such as pasta and rice.

The donation point posted: "We are in touch with a hostel in Zgierz and a volunteer centre in Lodz, every item donated will go directly into hands of the Ukrainian people in need."

14. Salisbury Salvation Army The Salisbury Salvation Army branch is currently accepting financial gifts for Ukraine to help fund relief and work in Ukraine, while also providing help to the countries surrounding Ukraine's borders. You can also donate via their Just Giving page.

Head To Toe Nail Salon, Winchester Street, Salisbury The team at Head To Toe in Salisbury are appealing for thermal blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, toys, new or undamaged clothes, waterproof jackets, underwear, soap, shower gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hairbrushes, sanitary pads and antiseptics. 16. Polish Social Club, Southhampton The Polish Social Club are taking donations which will be sent to Medyka (Polish-Ukrainian border) from Southampton. They are kindly asking for donations of:

17. The Polish White Eagle Club in Balham, South London The Polish White Eagle Club in Balham is accepting clothing, bedding and other items to help refugees in Ukraine. They have been overwhelmed with donations, so do contact them before dropping off any extra supplies.

18. North London Collection Centre Donations in the city can also be dropped off at the North London Collection Centre. Items needed include nappies, sanitary items, towels, reusable cutlery, toothbrushes and underwear.

19. UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) The students at SSEES are arranging a collection point for Ukrainian refugees. They have explained that they don't need any food items, but instead need medical supplies, toiletries, hygiene products and clothes.

20. SOAS World Development Society The SOAS World Development Society has partnered with the School of Slavonic & East European Studies at UCL who is organising a donation drive to Lviv, Ukraine. Clothing is no longer the most important donation, but instead they have expressed a need for cardboard boxes to pack goods in.

21. The Prosperity restaurant, Twickenham, London The Prosperity restaurant in Twickenham has been flooded with donations by kind-hearted Londoners, but they are still accepting items including blankets, painkillers, medicine, hot water bottles, baby food, diapers, and feminine sanitary products.
