On August 21st, 2022, Port Farms will be hosting their first Dog Days of Summer event at the farm to benefit McKean animal rescue, Because You Care. In addition to farm events raising money for the organization on that day, the animal shelter will have dogs available for adoption during the event.
"Our family has always loved animals, and we know so many of our guests do as well," said Casey Port, Chief Operations Officer at Port Farms. "We wanted to find a way to help give back to a local rescue and focus an entire day at the farm to help raise money for them," said Port.
Port Farms is dog-friendly and will be collecting a five-dollar dog donation entrance fee for the animal rescue on this day. Proceeds from hot dog sales that day will also be donated to the organization. Other events throughout the day include:
"We hope you will bring your pups out to the farm and help raise awareness and money for an organization that is near and dear to our hearts," said Port.
Guests who bring a "wish list" item for the rescue will receive a coupon for a future Port Farms visit. Items include Purina One Adult Cat Food, Purina One Healthy Kitten Dry Food, canned cat/kitten food (any brand), clumping litter (any brand), high value dog treats, puppy & dog food, peanut butter, Kong toys, and plush toys.
The event takes place during the farm's Flower Festival from 11AM – 7PM. Port Farms admission tickets are required for all guests over the age of two. Tickets include entrance into the farm, most activities, access to five acres of flower fields, and one free pick-your-own bloom. Additional flower packages and upgrades are available.
