A cat has gone viral for stealing children's toys from its neighbors' garden, accumulating a whole set of foam digits its owners have promised to use as "lottery numbers."

In a video shared by the cat's owner Jjaaayyyy_ on TikTok last Wednesday, the cat can be seen climbing up from its neighbors' garden back into its own, holding in his mouth a foam number toy.

The clip comes with a caption that says: "My cat's been stealing these foam numbers from our neighbors all day and it's so stupidly funny."

In later updates, the cat's owner showed a pile of toys their cat took from the neighbors' garden. Amounting to around five pieces of foam, the caption said that this was only around half of the total haul.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), U.S. citizens own around 85.8 million cats, with some 35 percent of all households in the country having at least one cat.

Approximately 3.2 million cats enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, about 530,000 are euthanized and at least 2.1 million are adopted. About 100,000 cats who enter shelters as strays are later returned to their owners.

The video has attracted a lot of attention on the platform and in less than a day it has already received over 522,4000 likes.

One user, Lindi De Beer, commented: "Family next door: 'Where is the number 5 square?? It couldn't just have up and walked away, Susan!'."

Great_Gatsby wrote: "We'll be seeing videos on ghosttok from them about their disappearing squares!" And HaleeC added: "They'll get cameras as they're worried... Watch them back & can't help but laugh. Couldn't be mad at that."

Boo_mommy pointed out: "Some little kid is forever going to be: one, two, three four, six, seven....."

Another user, Dave_b94, joked: "Here's a fiver, now give me my food" And Emma Ashton shared her own experience with cat shenanigans: "My mum's cat stole a whole roast chicken once, brought it [back] through the catflap."

Another user, Esther Kim said: "I'd love if my cat brought me foam numbers instead of rats. Funny that they still do the typical 'brought you something' meows."
