Tony- and Pulitzer-winning composer Tom Kitt has signed on to the new feature from Warner Bros. Animation.
Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck will give their regards to Broadway in Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical, a new feature-length animated film from Warner Bros. Animation for HBO Max and Cartoon Network.
Tom Kitt—the Tony-, Pulitzer-, and Grammy-winning composer of Next to Normal—will serve as composer on the new film, alongside screenwriter and lyricist Ariel Dumas, Deadline reports. The movie will feature both new songs and dance numbers, as well as new orchestrations from the Warner Bros. catalogue of movie musicals. Animator Brandon Jeffords serves as director and supervising producer, with Sam Register serves as executive producer.
The plot will center on Bugs Bunny, intent on living as a regular rabbit as he ends his run in a hit Broadway musical. When Daffy Duck is set to take over the role, he is kidnapped by an obsessive fan. Bugs must save Daffy in order to save his retirement, but he finds he may still have a little love left for the Broadway spotlight.
This won't be Bugs' and Daffy's first foray on the boards. Bugs Bunny on Broadway played a one-month, sold-out run at the Gershwin in October 1990. The concert musical featured Looney Tunes animation accompanied live by the Warner Brothers Symphony Orchestra.

The "Born This Way" singer is reportedly in negotiations to portray one of the most notable female supervillains.
The filmed version of the Off-Broadway show drops on the streaming platform June 24.
The musical's Off-Broadway cast album is also now available to stream.
The couple's son will co-create and co-write.
Darren Criss and Yolanda Adams will also be part of the broadcast, which will also be available for streaming.
The Emmy and two-time Tony winner will produce new content through his production company Incognegro.
"The subject of this documentary refused to be filmed," states the trailer for My Old School.
The three-time Grammy winner was offered the role when Oliver Stone was slated to direct the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical.
The musical will feature an original score by EGOT winner Alan Menken.
The evening was filmed in April at New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
The 1997 animated film is also in development as a live stage production.
The Dear Evan Hansen alum also executive produced and contributed original music to the movie.
