One fan takes the time to recreate Animal Crossing villagers as crochet plush toys, and they've recently finished one based on Vesta the sheep.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has reached the end of its free updates, meaning that fans won't have new content for their favorite series for quite some time. While the latest game offers plenty for players to do until the next installment, some fans have found new ways to share their love for the cute and simple franchise in the meantime. One person has used it to crochet a number of villagers that players should recognize, and their latest work is a plush toy of Vesta the sheep.
Vesta is a rather familiar Animal Crossing villager to fans, having debuted in the original game on the GameCube. She's got a "normal" personality, making her rather similar to other potential townspeople in the series such as Daisy and Ione. While some villagers haven't made their way to every game, Vesta can be found in every Animal Crossing release to date and, as a result, has a fair number of loyal fans.

On Reddit, a rather talented fan going by the name of harrybenney has made a custom crochet plushie of the character. The stuffed toy features an expression made of felt, making sure that Vesta is always smiling at whoever is looking at her. The plush seems to be inspired by Vesta's design from the first Animal Crossing title as she's pictured wearing a scarf. In New Horizons, her scarf was removed and she was made to wear a shirt like every other AC villager.
According to the comments on harrybenney's post, people are adoring the plushie. Loyal fans of the sheep have expressed that her likeness has been captured perfectly. One player has come forward to say that Vesta's big, white eyes have always creeped them out, but harrybenney's crochet creation is so cute that they can't find it in themselves to consider this special Animal Crossing villager plush scary.
Other fans on the post have asked if harrybenney plans to make a pattern available for Vesta and other sheep villagers, as they run a shop offering crochet patterns for free in their spare time. According to the plush maker, however, they didn't save any progress materials from which they could write down a pattern, so those who wish to crochet their own Vesta will need to wait just a bit longer.
Some comments on the Reddit post say that they'd love to purchase Vesta and other Animal Crossing plush toys from harrybenney with NFC chips in their hands. This would give them Amiibo compatability with games such as New Horizons, so players can call them to their towns. While harrybenney has yet to respond to these requests, the artist does offer commissions for similar plushies on an Etsy store called CotswoldsCrochet.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
